I wish he would have given it a couple more fights. I personally thought he WON the Hooker fight and RDA was 5 days notice FFS, but if you've lost the fire, you've lost the fire and I respect that.

Could say so much and talk a ton of crap but if there is no spark or passion to do this, then get the F off the plate. Rather him leave on his terms than taking money fights and clogging deep division of hungry men. You gotta do you.

I think the loss of desire to train is more important than anything. If you train daily - it's a lifestyle. If you train 350 days per year it's your life and the fight is just 25 minutes tops so I can see how people lose and lose but still don't wanna leave the sport cause they love the gym. But if you don't miss training it's probably time to hang up the gloves.

  18. BenRangel

    25 dager siden

The strongest thing to fight is the "I can't go out on a loss" mentality. Cause you probably don't wanna leave when you're winning either... So it can be a vicious circle.

I was at Paul's pro debut for CFFC at the Resorts in Atlantic City. I've had the pleasure of hanging out with him and his family a few times over the years, and the guy is just as solid in private as he is representing the UFC in public. However else he's remembered as a fighter, Philadelphia will remember him as yet another legendary pugilist who furthered our place on the pro fighting map and did it with all the class in the world. Now he continues to do so from the commentary booth and in the legions of up and coming Philadelphia martial artists he's inspired. Thanks for an awesome career, Paul, it's been a joy to watch!

Absolutely understand his position, I didn't exactly reach his height but I fought for around 3 years in amateur combat sports bouts. Never lost a fight but almost got knocked the fuck out on my second amateur MMA fight which had become my last to date. The reason is as simple as I don't want to get hit in the head anymore. Luckily for me, I went full throttle on my last year with submission grappling & become the winner for 70kg (8-Man Tournament) & Absolute (4-Man Tournament) in local scene.
